Network Access Control

Wireless LANs (WLANs)

Today, wireless LANs (WLANs) provide complete mobility that is no longer limited to the infrastructure of wires, offering a quick and effective extension of a wired network. However, the air-borne nature of WLANs opens it to intruders and attacks that can come from any direction.

Given the difficulty of controlling the physical boundaries of these networks, it is imperative to restrict WLAN access only to authenticated users (e.g., by using Check Point's VPN-1, or 802.1X/EAP authentication), and to verify that connecting endpoints are compliant with corporate security standards.

Check Point has partnered with leading WLAN vendors to certify and promote joint solutions based on the 802.1X/EAP standard. The joint solutions-comprising WLAN switches and Check Point Endpoint Security software-automatically verify compliance with corporate security policy prior to enabling access to the network via the WLAN switches.
