The BeaconWorks WLAN product family delivers unprecedented scalability and availability coupled with unique network virtualization and roaming features. Our use of IP routing technology results in lower total cost of ownership, improved manageability, uncompromised security, and seamless roaming across your enterprise. Additionally, this approach enables companies to use wireless with their existing network security and VPN solutions. Chantry's "wireless router" is only one part of its routed WLAN solution. Chantry provides a complete Layer 3 WLAN solution, which includes a pre-standard CAPWAP Layer 3 protocol that provides autodiscovery, management and tunneling mechanisms for access points; a Layer 3 virtualization mechanism managing virtual groups (named VNS) using subnets; and advanced layer 3 services such as seamless multi-subnet roaming and network-wide BeaconMaster availability. Since enterprise-wide applications run over an IP network, it was imperative for Chantry to provide an IP-based WLAN solution as opposed to a VLAN based solution. Chantry customers are not forced to add VLANs to their existing wired infrastructure for the sake of deploying WLAN, nor do they have to depend on network-wide VLANs or any other tunneling protocol (i.e. GRE) to support Layer 2 or Layer 3 roaming. Bottom line - unlike a layer 2 solution, a Layer 3 solution does not require any intrusive network configuration to the existing wired network or complex network design to enable features such as multi-subnet roaming. The fact that the BeacomMaster is a "wireless router" is an added bonus if a customer intends to have the BeaconMaster participate to the routed IP network (e.g. OSPF). |

| OPSEC Integration | |
| Chantry Networks is using Check Point's OPSEC interfaces to send security alerts and device status information from BeaconWorks to the Check Point management and logging infrastructure. The creation of a central repository for important system and security events allows administrators to maintain the proper security policy for their entire network. Corrective actions can be taken to prevent malicious connections, including those originating from unauthorized clients or unauthorized access points. Attempts to compromise wireless network devices will result in alerts, which can automatically trigger administrator defined actions. Enterprises using these two solutions can now easily analyze the important security events occurring on both the wired and wireless networks. | |
