Full Network Link Visibility
Taps are a permanent, passive solution that ensures full-duplex network visibility (10/100 or Gigabit) unconstrained by bandwidth including all packet types and errors from all seven layers. This is different from SPAN ports, which eliminate low layer errors (Layer 1 and Layer 2) and corrupt packets that may contain important security information.

Secure Network Monitoring
Copper or Fiber Taps sit in-line and pass data to the monitoring device without interfering or disrupting the network traffic. Net Optics passive Tap technology provides monitoring access without introducing a point of failure to the network or consuming network resources.

Expanded Network Access
Regeneration Taps allow multiple network monitoring devices to be deployed simultaneously on a single link for expanded network access. Up to eight different monitoring devices can be connected to a passive Regeneration Tap to view the same traffic at the same time, allowing customers to reach additional parts of the network they had not been able to view.

Increase Connectivity Options
Net Optics 10/100 Port Aggregator Taps provide ultra-efficient access to critical links, enabling InterSpect to simultaneously monitor a full-duplex link - using only one NIC. Onboard memory guards against dropped traffic during bursts. Net Optics' Zero DelayTM technology ensures that any loss of power to the Tap is transparent to the network, and does not affect the flow of traffic through the Tap - eliminating packet delay and loss as potential security issues.

Fail-Safe Access Point
Once a Tap is placed in a network link, a monitoring device can be conveniently installed or removed from the tap at anytime without disrupting the network. Net Optics Bypass Switches with Heartbeat allow the installation, removal, and upgrade of InterSpect appliances without link downtime. The Bypass Switch checks connectivity through the InterSpect appliance by transmitting a special Heartbeat packet every second. If the cable or power supply is disconnected, or the application is stopped, the Bypass Switch does not receive the Heartbeat packet and network traffic is immediately routed around the InterSpect appliance.
